Folklore[ | ]
C’era una volta una bellissima e talentuosa tessitrice di vestiti e tessuti, Aracne, che un solo peccato d’orgoglio la rese un mostro per sempre. Non vi era nessuno più abile della mortale Aracne con telaio e filo. Gli ammiratori viaggiavano per molte leghe solo per guardare la sua arte. I suoi arazzi erano così meravigliosi e maestosi, che si diceva che la filatrice dovesse essere stata istruita dalla Dea patrona dei Tessitori in persona, Atena. Aracne si fece altezzosamente beffe di questa comparazione, affermando che nemmeno gli Dei potessero rivaleggiare il suo talento nella tessitura. Quando Atena lo venne a sapere, travestita da vecchia, andò a trovare Aracne e la incoraggiò a mostrare il giusto rispetto per gli Dei. Aracne congedò la vecchia donna e proclamò che nessun Dio, nemmeno Atena, avrebbe saputo tessere meglio di lei. Furiosa, Atena si rivelò e accettò la sfida. Entrambe si misero all’opera al telaio con fervore. Atena intrecciò un arazzo glorioso, raffigurante la sua battaglia con Poseidone per la città di Atene. I suoi dettagli e le raffigurazioni era squisite. La tessitura di Aracne invece rappresentava Zeus nelle sue molte infedeltà con le mortali. Così perfetta, così realistica erala sua arte, che nemmeno Atena ne poté negare l’abilità, e nemmeno potè contenere la sua rabbia davanti a tale maestria. Violentemente, strappò l’arazzo di Aracne e impose un dito sulla fronte di Aracne. Contorcendosi dal dolore, Aracne cadde al suolo mentre altre gambe le crescevano sul corpo, gridando mentre si trasformava nel primo ragno. Fu un atto di rabbia e di pietà, una lezione e una maledizione, poiché i ragno sono i migliori tessitori, e Aracne, in particolare, dovette tessere per sempre, ma nessuno potrebbe mai dubitare della conseguenza all’orgoglio di Aracne. Comunque, nel suo cuore smarrito, Aracne non perdonò mai Atena, consumata da un odio oscuro che può essere acquietato solo dalla distruzione di tutti gli Dei.

- Arachne received an overhaul of her abilities with SMITE Version 1.0.2298.3. For more information about the old kit, see Replaced abilities.
- One of Arachne's taunts, "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we want to suck the juicy bits out of our enemies!", is a reference to the 19th century poem Marmion written by Walter Scott.
- One of Arachne's jokes, "I wouldn't call myself itsy bitsy if i were you.", is a reference to the famous children's song Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Arachne can only have two Web traps active at a time and the Webs last 240s.

Notes: Broodlings will always follow their target, even if they're out of the spiders' sight range. The target will still leave a web trail behind them if they become CC immune.
